Stuffed Wild Grape Leaves

The other day I noticed that the leaves on the wild grape vine along our driveway are beginning to open up. Soon it will be time to harvest a bunch of these, and make stuffed grape leaves.

These are a little time intensive to make, so I recommend making a large batch and freezing the extras for quick and easy dinners later.

  1. May I ask what they taste like? Are they similar to egg rolls? And does the grape lief have a distinct taste?

  2. Angela,
No not really an egg roll, more like a cabbage roll except the grape leaves do not have as strong a flavor as cabbage. The grape leaves themselves have a nice mild flavor and you really taste the stuffing more.

  3. Your recipe looks awesome. I'll probably try it your way, but I'll probably also give it a shot with ground venison and black walnuts and use either the plantain or garlic mustard since we have both and garlic mustard quite plentiful though unwanted.
